Nvidia Prepares to Resume H20 GPU Shipments to China Amid Regulatory Adjustments
Nvidia has announced plans to restart shipments of its H20 GPU to China, pending approval from the US Commerce Department. The California-based AI hardware giant has already submitted the necessary license applications, with management anticipating a swift green light. Once approved, deliveries to Chinese clients are expected to commence immediately.
In parallel, Nvidia unveiled the RTX Pro graphics processor, marketed as fully compliant with current US export restrictions. The chip targets industrial AI applications in smart factories and logistics hubs across China. CEO Jensen Huang has been actively engaging with policymakers in both Washington and Beijing, including meetings with former President Trump and Chinese officials, to foster AI research collaboration and emphasize the company's open-source commitments.
The H20, initially blocked by US semiconductor export curbs, was redesigned to meet regulatory requirements after Nvidia lost access to China's $50 billion market. Huang previously highlighted the significant financial impact of these restrictions during the company's earnings calls.
